Some of our favorite movie stories feature spooky creatures, monsters, and even zombies! This hands-on workshop will teach kids how to make zombie, monster, and creature makeup using simple items around the house. 

Character Design for Animation

Join Spacestation Animation (A is for Addley, Shonduras) for an interactive workshop on character design for animation. You will learn from professional animators how to make your characters for animated stories come to life, and how to design your characters to enhance your storytelling.

Stop Motion Animation with Spy Hop

Join Spy Hop and dive into the basics of stop-motion filmmaking in this hands-on workshop! Learn about story structure and storyboarding and bring your vision to life by filming with LEGO bricks.

Camera and Lighting Movie Magic

Join Utah Film Center as we teach you how to use your camera and lighting to make movie magic. This interactive workshop will give you tips and tricks to make your home movies tell amazing stories and look good as a movie in the theaters.

How to Write Stories for the Movies

Do you have a story you want to make into a movie? Join Utah Film Center as we teach you step-by-step how to take a story idea and transform it into a screenplay to make a movie. This funny, hands-on workshop will make you want to write stories where anything is possible in the movies.

Audio Illusion: Creating Powerful Moments in Unexpected Ways

What you hear in a movie is not real. When you watch a movie, the actors may be real, the location may be real, the animals may be real, but what you hear is an illusion. Come help us tell a good story and create some amazing sounds from unexpected objects.

Storytelling Through Movie Production Design

Learn about production design and how it creates the world of a movie with Mark Hofeling, a production designer with over 30 years of experience in film. He will share how he began his work in film, show his process on his most well-known films (High School Musical and Descendants films), and workshop with attendees how their favorite film settings help tell a great story.

Whether you love to watch films, want to explore the hands on activities at the Clubhouse, or do both, a day pass is your access to the Festival!

Each day pass includes the following perks: In-person films on a first come, first served basis

  • Clubhouse activities.
  • Free UTA transit to the Festival at Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center in Taylorsville
 

Each member of your group needs a pass to access Tumbleweeds. Workshops require additional registration and fee.
