Have you ever wondered about the magic behind films like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Shaun the Sheep, and Coraline? They were all created using a special technique called stop motion animation. In this engaging workshop, kids and their families will learn through demonstrations, behind-the-scenes footage, and hands-on activities how the same methods that studios employ on large-scale films like these, can be used to create stop motion animations at home.
For 90 minutes kids will become a small animation studio and model the process of creating art for a video game from start to finish. Participants will get a small glimpse of the different artistic roles in the animation/gaming industry and will experience the teamwork needed to bring a project vision to life. In the end we’ll get to play the game we just created!
This is a class for kids that know a bit about film editing, but want to up their game and learn even further tricks of the trade. Utah Education Network will do a show & tell about editing and the motivation behind edits. Kids will also learn cool ways to transition between scenes and best practices to make your films look even more amazing!

This workshop will show kids how to do filmmaking with a full 360 spherical view! Kids will get to film with stereoscopic 360 cameras and add 3D graphics with a production team. Films made in the workshop will be exported to a VR headset and to YouTube 360!
Join Ashley Brown from Dreamscapes and Nightmare on 13th to learn special effects makeup and face/body painting. We will be using simple products that you can get in any Halloween or costume shop, and learn how to use these products effectively to create almost any illusion we want!
Prosthetics are the backbone of the Special Effects (SFX) Industry, and in this workshop we will be going over types of prosthetics, and how to apply, paint and blend, and remove them properly. Teens will leave the workshop with everything you need to know to get started on their own SFX journey!
