How to Fest

HOW TO WATCH FILMS & PARTICIPATE IN FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES

The 2023 Tumbleweeds Film Festival will offer viewing options for everyone — indoor screenings at the Viridian Event Center in West Jordan and online screenings at home or on the go.

Our workshops and Clubhouse activities will be held in person at the Viridian Event Center.

NEW FOR 2023

For 2023, we are offering in-person passes for all-day Saturday and/or Sunday, as well as individual tickets to each film. Access to see the films is first come, first served, but we anticipate that everyone with a pass will be able to see the films they want.

We will also offer a selection of films online that can be accessed with an online pass.

PURCHASING A PASS

Once the pass availability is live, use your computer, tablet, or mobile device to visit the Festival homepage and select the day(s) you are interested in.

Some films may be offered in both in-theater and streaming formats. Click the “Buy Pass” button for the version you want. You’ll be taken to our Eventive platform where you can purchase in-theater passes (for Viridian Event Center) and “Pre-Order” or “Unlock” access to tickets for streaming films.

ATTENDING A SCREENING OR CLUBHOUSE ACTIVITIES AT THE VIRIDIAN CENTER

The Viridian Event Center in West Jordan is in center of the Salt Lake Valley; this is our first year hosting the festival at this location. To attend an in-person screening, visitors will purchase a day pass for Saturday and/or Sunday or individual tickets to screenings. The day pass will be used to access the festival films throughout the day. Access to see the films is first come, first served, but we anticipate that everyone with a pass will be able to see the films they want. The passes also include fun Clubhouse activities.

Individual tickets will be available to purchase on site. Please see the information about our new ticket pricing for pay what you can afford.

LOCAL RESTAURANTS AND BUSINESS

Please check out our list of local restaurants where you can grab a bite to eat before or after your film screening or workshop. Also check out a few local kid-focused businesses who provide fun activities similar to the Clubhouse and workshop activities.

TICKET PRICING – PAY WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD

Individual screening tickets start at $5 for online purchases in advance. Onsite ticket sales for screenings will be available on a sliding scale with a pay-what-you-can-afford model. Please choose what to pay based on your financial circumstances. If you can afford more, it helps support the Festival and our ability to offer free or inexpensive tickets for those who otherwise could not afford to attend.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILMS WITH SUBTITLES

To enhance our young viewers’ appreciation of foreign-language movies, most films are screened in their original language with English subtitles. Individual headsets will be available with subtitle readers reading the subtitles aloud to increase each child’s comprehension.

UTAH FILM CENTER IN-PERSON HEALTH SAFETY POLICY

Please see Utah Film Center’s COVID-19 Safety Guide.

PARTICIPATING IN WORKSHOPS AT THE VIRIDIAN EVENT CENTER

Workshops will be announced in early 2023 and need to be booked individually (they are not included in the day pass). Clubhouse activities are free and are included in the day passes.
