Do you want to learn how to make bruises, cuts, scrapes, and other makeup special effects for your next movie or Halloween costume? Join makeup artist Ashley Brown from Nightmare on 13th as she lets you try hands-on techniques with makeup also used in the movie industry for fantasy, horror, and sci-fi films.

We will be covering basic entry skills into special effects in the movie industry.

Lighting a Movie 101

Learn how to light a scene for your film or social media video! From beginners to those with experience, you’re sure to walk away from this workshop with a few new tips and tricks for your next project.

How to Edit Movies

Need help putting your movie together to tell a great story? Join Utah Education Network’s Media Team in this hands-on video editing workshop. We’ll cover basic editing tips and some intermediate tricks on Adobe Premiere Rush, Adobe Premiere Pro, Canva, and more.

Making 1-Minute Movies

Learn how to plan, film, and edit a quick 1-minute film with a distinct story. We will explore how to use common technologies like cell phones, iPads, and laptops to write, record, and edit a film in under an hour. Come with an idea of what you would like to film or come with no idea and a sense of adventure!

How to Write a Movie

Calling all writers and storytellers! Learn the parts of all stories, how movie stories are made, and how to write one of your own. Be ready to write, act out your story, and learn how to write any story you can create with your imagination and turn it into a movie!

Acting for the Camera

Learn the basics of on-camera acting with a local pro! Together kids will use their critical reading skills to break down a scene, memorize at the speed of light, and film their very own performance. Get ready to let your dramatic flair show in front of the camera!

Character Design for Animation

Are you a budding animator, artist, or drawing fanatic and want the inside scoop on how to make your characters come to life? In this workshop, Disney animator Joseph Buenning will cover some of the basics for designing appealing story-driven characters for animation.

Whether you love to watch films, want to explore the hands on activities at the Clubhouse, or do both, a day pass is your access to the Festival!

Each day pass includes the following perks: In-person films on a first come, first served basis

  • Free UTA transit to the Festival at Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center in Taylorsville
 

Each member of your group needs a pass to access Tumbleweeds. Workshops require additional registration and fee.
